Michael R. Frazier

Mente et Actione — by mind and action.

Founder, author, and builder of tools that measure what a résumé never shows: the ownership, initiative, and follow-through that decide how people actually work.

The flying brain, Michael R. Frazier's personal mark: an orange brain carried on white wings

The question behind all of it

Why do capable people fail to do work they are fully able to do — and how could an employer see that before the hire instead of after it?

Michael R. Frazier is the founder and CEO of Peak Talent Capital Solutions, a staffing and behavioral talent acquisition firm based in Augusta, Georgia. Peak is where the ideas on this site were first tested: on real job orders, real candidates, and real employers who needed people who would show up and carry the load.

That work led Mike to develop neuroergology, an interdisciplinary field that brings neuroscience, psychology, and behavioral science to bear on the mental and emotional side of work. Where ergonomics fits the workplace to the body, neuroergology looks at the mind that shows up to the job: how people regulate themselves under pressure, how they hold on to effort, and how they adapt.

The practical result is KAIROS Behavioral Intelligence, a platform built on Mike's Six Unmeasurables framework. KAIROS gives employers a behavioral read on candidates and teams, with scoring designed to show how a person responds when the pressure is real rather than rehearsed.

Mike is also an author whose books form one connected body of work, the co-host of the men's wellness podcast Brothers in Balance, and the founder of The MIND Foundation, a Georgia nonprofit that carries these ideas into programs for young people and the community — including the Tee It Up For Kids Golf Classic.

“Mente et Actione is the guiding motto for my life, my solutions, and the field of neuroergology.” — Michael R. Frazier

The ideas

A set of frameworks developed across Mike's books, white papers, and the KAIROS platform. Each one names something employers feel every day but rarely have language for.

Neuroergology
(noun)  \ ˌn(y)u̇r-ō-ər-ˈgä-lə-jē \

An interdisciplinary field developed by Michael R. Frazier that integrates neuroscience, psychology, and behavioral science to understand and strengthen the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions of work. Distinct from neuroergonomics, which optimizes the physical workspace, neuroergology studies the mental and emotional processes that shape work behavior, productivity, and how people deal with each other. Its aim is to build a person's NeuroCap: the brain's capacity to adapt, regulate emotion, and perform at work.

The Six Unmeasurables

The diagnostic spine of KAIROS. Six traits that decide performance and never appear on a résumé.

Ownership

Carrying the burden of an outcome, rather than assigning the blame for it.

Initiative

Moving without being told to move.

Follow-Through

Finishing what was started. When it fails, it fails silently.

Interest

Genuine pull toward the work, as opposed to rehearsed answers about it.

Presence

Attention paid to the people and the task in front of you. Not charisma.

Fear

Often disguised as busyness. It steers people away from work that risks rejection.

The Effort Mindset

Effort is not just an ingredient of success; it is the catalyst that turns potential into achievement. Distinct from the Growth Mindset, the Effort Mindset calls for active striving over mere participation and for "That Much More," the extra mile, joined to Right Action so that persistence stays aligned with integrity.

The War on Effort

The workplace has grown resistant to extra effort. This is the battle the Effort Mindset is built to win: harnessing "That Much More" when the surrounding culture rewards doing the minimum.

Psychological Maturity

The emotional compass of professional life: self-awareness, emotional regulation, and empathy. Its absence shows up as infantilization, where adults expect to be coddled rather than held accountable. KAIROS scores it across every question it asks.

Memento Deficiendum

Remember that you will fail. Accepting failure as certain, rather than something to be avoided at all costs, is what frees a person to take bold action in the face of adversity.

Steel Spine

A behavioral backbone: the structure, reliability, and composure that hold when pressure arrives. It is taught in the Maturity Masterclass and measured by KAIROS through the Steel Spine Benchmark.

Before Day One

Hiring protocols that test for maturity before an offer is made, so fragility is caught in the interview instead of discovered in the first ninety days.

The Golden Effort Paradigm

The Golden Rule, strengthened by psychological maturity, common sense, and a committed focus on career growth. It redefines business etiquette as a practice of respect that also answers every professional's question: what's in it for me?

The Positive Assumption Mindset

Assume positive intent. Giving colleagues the benefit of the doubt, and grounding disagreements in verifiable facts rather than perceptions, builds trust and heads off conflict before it starts.

Steel Spine

Most of what gets blamed on a skills gap is really a maturity gap. Steel Spine is Mike's framework for rebuilding the behavioral backbone of a team, and the Maturity Masterclass is where he teaches it.

Fragility masquerading as culture

Turnover climbs. Attendance slips. Interviews get ghosted and commitments go soft. Managers spend their days refereeing emotions instead of leading, and standards quietly drop to avoid the next confrontation. None of that is a skills problem, and none of it is fixed by another policy. It is a maturity problem, and maturity can be hired for, trained, and measured.

The Maturity Masterclass

A four-hour session, onsite or virtual, that brings together the Effort Mindset, the Steel Spine framework, and Before Day One hiring protocols. Leaders learn to diagnose immaturity early and objectively, to hire for effort integrity and emotional containment, and to reinforce maturity through a new hire's first ninety days.

Every attendee leaves with the Hiring and Building Maturity workbook, the Maturity Interview Lens and hiring guide, a Maturity Scorecard for a three-month follow-up, and a certificate of completion. Private sessions are available for teams of ten or more, and public cohort dates will be announced here.
